Grade 5 RAD Ballet
RAD Grade 5 ballet is suitable for pupils who have completed Level 1 of the RAD graded syllabus plus RAD Grade 4 ballet or equivalent.
Beginners age 12 and up who wish to study RAD grades are recommended to start off in the Wednesday evening General Ballet class, and then be assessed and placed in a suitable RAD Graded class after a couple of terms. RAD Grade 4 and 5 constitute Level 2 of the RAD’s Graded syllabus and are equivalent to GCSE Grade A*-C or NVQ Level 2. Following on from Grade 1-3, the knowledge and skills gained through completion of Grade 4 and 5 provide a base for continued progression through the Graded syllabus into Grade 6, or to prepare the candidate for Vocational Grades Intermediate and Advanced 1. The underlying philosophy of Grade 4 and 5 is to expand upon the foundations nurtured in Pre-Primary and Primary in Dance and Grade 1-3, providing students with a sequential syllabus that will promote a developmentally appropriate and sound technique for ballet, underpinning secure technique including core stability, weight placement, turn out and line, while continuing to nurture the student’s awareness of artistry musicality and dynamics.
